When Billy Joel decided he hadda be a big shot, he never realized he would face your wrath someday, RR!
Although I want to be allowed to introduce a line of defense for Mr. Joel that you overlooked: That he is a "consummate craftsman."
Oh, and by the way, Ron -- I see that you " bought a copy of an album (you) already had—Return of the Grievous Angel, covers of Gram Parsons songs by the likes of the Cowboy Junkies and Gillian Welch."
Did I mention I thought you wrote a terrific piece? Having said that, can I have that Parsons cover album you don't need? Write me and I'll send you my address.
UPDATE: What's funny is that I don't really share this intense hostility toward Billy Joel, despite the scathing comments I got from BJ fans (or, from, well - who knows?) He is a good craftsman, if you ask me.
I just wanted to see if I could get Ron Rosenbaum to give me a free album of Gram Parsons covers. That would have been cool ...
You are full of the same sh-t you speak of in so many others. Oh I wish i could be you Ron, almighty critic of all. Remember, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. I'm sure you'll be remembered as the new Shakesphere some 150 years past.If you google you'll be found under "jealous artists". On the other hand BJ songs will still be playing and the world can enjoy an upbeat note at will. Maybe you should write on toilet paper. That way your writings can have a positive impact on the world.
