What's happened to the Party of No - famous for blocking every piece of legislation proposed by Democrats, even a health reform bill first proposed in 1993 by a Republican? They don't say no to everything, apparently.
The Republican National Committee paid $1,946.25 for "meals" to a Los Angeles club called "Voyeur," and Dana Milbank did a little digging on "Voyeur" (he likes this sort of story). Here's how the club was described in a news writeup: ""Impromptu bondage and S&M 'scenes' being played out on an elevated platform by scantily clad performers throughout the night."
It gets worse. Milbank has a higher tolerance for this sort of thing than I do, so just read his piece if you want all the dirt.
I could never get through The Story of O when it was considered a "scandalous" underground book, either. The woman protagonist's embrace of masochism and humiliation was horrible and creepy, just as the rape scene in A Clockwork Orange where the victim acted as if she "enjoyed" it was horrible and creepy too.
But the new and improved GOP and the anonymous author of The Story of O seem just right for each other. Call it "The Party of O."
UPDATE: The stage show is over but the hurtin' goes on. A Republican staffer was fired today for approving the expense report in question.
